From Dreamers to Trump, U.S. reacts to Supreme Court immigration decision

In a tied decision today, the Supreme Court upheld an injunction blocking President Barack Obama's executive action on immigration, which would have benefited millions of immigrants.

"The fact that the Supreme Court wasn't able to issue a decision today doesn't just set the system back further, it takes us further from the country that we aspire to be," said Obama at a press conference today, calling the decision "frustrating" and "heartbreaking." He added: "Leaving the broken system the way it is, that’s not a solution. That’s the real amnesty."

Activists, presidential candidates and public officials took to social media today to react to the decision.

Activists
Dreamer Erika Andiola, an immigrant rights activist and the national Latino outreach press secretary for Bernie Sanders, wrote on Facebook, in Spanish: "The Supreme Court ruled n the case of # USvTX (expanded DACA and DAPA) with a 4 to 4 tie. That tie means that DAPA and the expansion of DACA remain blocked. But we have to keep fighting! It is important to emphasize that the original DACA from 2012 still stands."
