6./ DOWNFALL: The rebellion of the Sandinista's grandchildren
As the rejection of the government grows, the symbols that represent it are also coming down in the streets of Nicaragua. The red and black flags of the Sandinista Front (FSLN) have been replaced by the blue and white of the national flag. The demonstrators have also ripped up public images of the presidential couple: from giant-sized posters to the so-called 'trees of life', large and expensive metal structures that line some of the streets of the capital, a widely reviled initiative of Vice President Rosario Murillo.
